Weekend of Zouk with Otavio & Sara!
We’re so excited to have Otavio & Sara join us all the way from São Paulo, Brazil to share their passion for dance with us over the course of the weekend.
Otavio and Sara have been teaching classes locally and at congresses within Brazil and internationally since 2022 and are members of Geração 3D Dance Company which introduces a new generation of Zouk and Lambazouk professionals around the world.
Together they bring a fresh lens to their Zouk, with an emphasis on structure, boldness and versatility.
Sara Bezerra has been dancing since age 3 when she began training in solo dances (ballet, jazz, hip-hop etc). Sara later began learning ballroom dances at age 13 and was working professionally with country musicians by age 15. Her passion for dance led her to pursue Brazilian Zouk and Lambazouk at Spaço 3D where she met Otavio.
Otavio Kanashiro has been studying dance since 2012, with a grounding in urban dances, jazz classical and contemporary ballet. In 2015, he began his journey into learning Brazilian salon dances and ballroom styles such as Forró, Samba de gafieira, Zouk and Sertanejo. Within a few years he became a scholarship holder at Carine & Rafael Dance School and later at Spaço 3D where he further deepened his knowledge of Zouk and Lambazouk.

Windy Zouk Weekender 2022
In 2022, WeZouk collaborated with fellow Wellington dance school Karioka Dance, to bring Wellington the Windy Zouk Weekender! The weekend event included a range of Zouk-focused workshops delivered by teachers from around the Wellington region, including Jezuz & Louise, Adam & Gabrielle, Hannah & Yohan, Callum & Nicola, Elizabeth Ashby, Leona Wolpert, and Pamela Booth.
WeGathering Weekend 2021
For this year’s WeGathering Weekend we were lucky to have special guests Jezuz & Louise from Invercargill. We also had many fantastic new workshops provided by our very own Zouk teaching couples - Adam & Leona, Callum & Nicola, Hannah & Yohan - as well as special ‘Zouk Fusion’ and ‘Zouk Conditioning’ workshops.
WeGathering Weekend 2020
This marked the very first of our WeGathering Weekends: two days of focused workshops from our very own local teachers, as well as parties, practice sessions, and a whole lot of fun!
For approximately 2 weeks Gui and Brenda provided Zouk goodness. Teacher training, an intensive weekender, classes, privates. Of course there was partaaays, socials and practicas. Overall, there were 20 hours of teaching time!
WeZouk hosted the talented Xandinho & Mirella at our home studio while they visited Wellington!
They came and ran an open level workshop with progressions followed by a short Practica.
